All waxed up!

My little drummer is finished! here is the final photo with some detailed shots. Enjoy the waxy fun!!

Thank you for the lovely comments every one. Jess, I think you are right about watermarking photos. I have had a few problems with people using my work and re-working the images. I've written to the offenders but have not had any reply's.
One of my brothers has done a lot of work with 'Creative Commons' and I think it is a fantastic idea. But I really dislike those people that use your work without your permission!

caught up in mixed media

He Marches To The Sound Of His Own Drum

There is NO WAY that anybody will be seeing photos of my studio for the next few months/years!!
I'm just so hooked on making these little mixed media paintings that nothing and I mean nothing gets chucked out without me at least pondering ways to use it in some way. I have always been bad at throwing things away. feathers, stamps, bits of paper, dried up insects, rusty nails and bottle tops, bottles, bits of string, old cardboard, broken crockery, dried leaves, shells, drift wood, scraps of fabric....have I left anything out??? Well now I have a use for them, well maybe not the dried insects, they are too special!
So now not only do I knit, paint, sew, make dolls, sketch, lino print in my studio I now have to find room for my mixed media work! BF has promised me to make some shelves...I told him I neeeeed lots of shelves, but I think he knew that already.
So this little guy is nearly finished, sometimes it helps to look at your images on the computer so you can see how it's going.
I can see his ear needs a bit of work, his shoes could stand out a bit more....don't know whether I should put text in there or not???.....Some areas could still be lighter....maybe hammer a few rivets and melt a bit of wax. What do you think?

Audrey Valentine

She maybe little but boy can she give big bear hugs!! Audrey was fun to make. I knitted the teeny tiny rose behind her ear and her dress. One new bit of detail I'll be adding to my dolls is the little stitches around the socks. There are more detailed photo's of her in my ETSY shop.

Rodeo Girl fun!!

What a fantastic fun time I had finishing this painting off. Only a short time ago the postie dropped off my little mini iron I bought on eBay last week. I pushed aside all the other work I was doing and just had to play with the iron. Grabbed a candle and started melting and squishing the wax around...It was fun, fun, fun!!
I'm going to have to make another Rodeo Girl as much of this one is Suzi Blu's template. Hmmm maybe Bunny Rodeo Girl??

Rebecka Valentine

Hello!!! It's been a bit quite here these last few weeks but I can assure you that this will not be the case in weeks to come. I have been working away on some new designs, some I started well before Xmas. I've really been enjoying getting back into painting and learning some new techniques with Suzi Blu's classes...I've enrolled in a couple more!! I'm working on some multi-media dolls and having a play with mohair!!

a sneaky peek!!
Lets see what else have I been doing???? oh I've been studying the history of dolls and teddy bears!
Found some great books at the library.

One very cool book had lots of vintage knitting patterns for dolls clothes!! Just got to get a hold of some teeny tiny needles my 2.00 are not tiny enough for some of the knitting.
Oh and of course there will be a couple of Valentine themed critters like Miss Rebecka here, that can be viewed in my ETSY SHOP!!
You may have noticed that I had a few critters on eBay? Well I sold two, not really for the price I was hoping to get but they went to a lady in the states that is a mad doll collector, so I was pleased about that. Have to get myself more acquainted with eBay as there seems to be lots of tricky bits to work out and use properly.
Oh just one more thing, fingers and toes crossed I may have another shop to sell my critters in!!

I wont spill the beans about it just yet, but I'll be mighty excited about having my work there.
That's it for today.....maybe......oh but I have to cook dinner....it will be a zucchini feast! They seem to have exploded in numbers in the garden!!

I'm smiling

Thank you to everyone with there well wishes and thoughts it was so much appreciated. I was very tetchy during the almost three weeks of pill popping and tooth ache!

Here is a big smile to all of you from me!!
Not much work has been happening here in the past 2 weeks. My brother came to stay with us and we all had a ball. Lots of laughs, great food, tonnes of music, wine and explorations.

I'll post some pics up soon of our travels to some pretty disturbing but interesting places.

taking my mind off the pain

Here's a little something I'm playing around with. Burlesque themed girls. Mixed media drawing.
It's been such a l;lousy start to the year. On the 30th of December I woke up to a nasty tooth ache and booked in to see the dentist. They took a 180 degree x-ray and what a creepy sight it was! I've never had any problems with my wisdom teeth which is a wonder because all 4 teeth where growing in all the wrong directions!!! Now I don't mind having them out but because Tasmania is such a small state I guess the specialists are few and far between and I have to wait till July to see one! In the meantime I have to take antibiotics and pain killers....lots of pain killers. I just hope that I don't have to take these drugs all the way up to July as they make me pretty grumpy, nauseous and tired...but other wise not to bad. So in between feeling like crap I'm drawing happy pictures of party girls, dancing and swishing their skirts!
