I was extremely excited to have been asked by one of my favorite local bands, Raccoons to design their logo and t-shirt.
They are a rockabilly band and have been playing for many years in Hobart and recently extending their gigs to Melbourne, with plans for overseas tours!

I still love doing markets, they are a great way to introduce yourself and your work to a whole new audience. The past few markets have been held in the heart of the arts and tourist centre of Hobart, down near the docklands of Salamanca Place.

Facebook is great but a big distraction. I'm hoping to blog first and upload to facebook later. I don't mind that nobody really takes a peek what happens here on my blog, for me this is sort of a journal/diary.
Last month I moved from my lovely short term studio at Salamanca Arts Centre to a more permanent studio. There is a big old window that looks down Grace Gartonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11419102652097706549noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296622304691124061.post-50336450415719812722017-04-01T15:22:00.001+11:002017-04-01T15:22:40.134+11:00Take 20% off all Little Black Crow Studio items!!Grace Gartonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11419102652097706549noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296622304691124061.post-72877360809873906752017-03-18T16:46:00.000+11:002017-03-18T16:46:13.471+11:00Sneak PeeksA little look at some of my artworks in progress...
This one is a small painting, 22.5 x 12.5
No titles yet, early days. I'm loving working on the black and white, these are quite big paintings and take a fair bit of energy sketching and layering the illustrations.

Very excited to be in studio E-231 at Salamanca Arts Centre. It was a big move, packing up two studios from home but I have space for my sewing and painting..all in one room!
The atmosphere is great, Rectango on Friday nights, markets on Saturdays, always something happening, all good inspiration and motivation!

My last order for 2016, even though I was pushed a bit for time I still managed to make these little ones and enjoy making them. I was also quite chuffed when the Makers wanted four of my own rag doll designs as much as I love making the Threadbare Primitives, Annie's, I was thrilled they wanted mine! A wet and windy day outside..YAY, gives me a good reason to stay indoors and make something in the studio. Two passions of mine are nature and fabrics, when I saw Ann Wood Handmade had a pattern o make toadstools from fabric scraps I just had to give it a go.
I am sure you will be seeing a lot more of these!

A return to my studio after three years of study has seen some old friends come back to life..well so to speak, you see these and other dolls had been left in different stages of unfinishness, it was quite a pleasure to finally complete them. There is of course more to come.

Sometimes I really like the backs of these embroideries instead of the "perfectly" finished off fronts. Hmm there maybe something in this for some new works, may be something a little gothic?

This little heart shape container was made and given to my mum when she
was a little girl. Her mother made it for her. I remember her showing me
the confiner when I was little and remember being so amazed by this
little worn, handmade object that meant so much to my mum. I just adore
it.
