Just one more art doll for the year

Bad Boy Napoleon

What a year!! But I couldn't end it without making just one more art doll...this guy was made for my Art Dolls Only group as part of our mini monthly challenge titled Recycled Materials Doll...He was made from stuff I've kept for years and some I just acquired like the anchor beer top lid...very nice beer it was indeed on such a hot last day of 2011. The head was from a doll I made years ago never finished him! The fisherman's friend tin is an old favorite. The arms and legs belonged to an old wooden clown I found at the tip...news paper hat...and the cigarette was given to me years ago by a friend, see I knew it would come in handy one day!
Happy New Year everyone...you really have made 2011 are more enjoyable year, hip, hip, hooray!

What a way to end the New Year...a few weeks ago I was contacted by TarraWarra Museum of Art in Healesville, Victora asking if I was interested in selling my dolls in their gift shop after a second or two to think about it...YES I'd love too! And here are the nine, just completed, hot off the sewing machine. I'm really happy with them all but I have to say I like Boris the best!...Well no rest, it's back to finish another custom order doll and two big paintings!

Isabel, custom made doll

What a busy month...might have to put Xmas off till next year..Here is another custom made doll for a client in Hawaii. Isabel was a special request by children's book author Caryn Fukuda, she is the main character from her book titled 'Naughty Nathan'. Isabel will be journeying to Hawaii soon, to join Caryn and her lovely family.

Little Black Crow...cards!!

A project I've been hanging out to do for quite a while now..and as we all know all good things takes time, so here at long last is my first greeting/party/birthday card!
I've listed just this one design for now on Etsy just to see if there is any interest in my cards.
The image on the card is based on one of my early mixed media paintings 'The Tea Party'

The illustration was digitally drawn using a program called Adobe Flash, it produces what is known as vector based lines which don't produce pixelated drawings giving you a smooth line and crisp clean images. The paper is made from sustainable tree plantation and the envelope is 100% recycled paper!

Meet Hobbes and Bunny, a new commission

Meet Bunny and Hobbes, he was commissioned by a lovely lady, Vanessa from Victoria for her two boys. Vanessa emailed me recently after purchasing one of my bunnies from my online etsy shop, so she had some idea of my style of doll making. Vanessa wondered if I could make a bunny and a tiger based on her children's much loved toys in my grungy primitive style. After seeing a couple of photo's of the existing toys Vanessa and I set about collaborating on ideas for the dolls. I'd never made a tiger before and after a couple of attempts we settled on......

 not this one.....................................

but this one......................................

And here he is completed...collaborating with someone can be a wonderful experience that can lead you too accomplishing something you had never contemplated before. I'm really happy with the tiger and I'll be making a small limited edition shortly.
Hobbes and Bunny are on their way to Victoria tonight...safe journey fella's!!
Vanessa is a doll maker too and you should see the lovely little mermaids she makes and sells online, her shop is called Mermaids Dreaming
I've another two commissions...one for a children's book writer in Hawaii and one for a local Tasmanian!
