Natural Print Works exhibition

A big congratulations to my friend Patricia and her buddies for their exhibition. Patrica has been working in printmaking for more than 30 years...we met at art school way back in the early 80's. She has always been a wonderful friend and inspiration..her joy of life and family reflects in her work.
I would love to be there to see the exhibition...but for those of you in the Wollongong area I urge you to visit the Art Arena Studio and Gallery, A/39 market St, Wollongong...open hours are Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm. Or make an appointment 0422933993.

Little Black Crow at the Valley Market

Come and meet some very talented artists and crafters this Sunday at The Valley Market..I'll be showing off some of my new brooches and dolls tomorrow so come and have a look!!

I can hardly believe my eyes...dolls

Did you hear the alarm bells ring? This is my 300th post. and what better way to celebrate with two new dolls!! It's been a while since I made a doll...and I've been wanting to make these two paper mach dolls since I made my first for the Traveling Doll Project.
These dolls are all my own creation..I think I'm going to name them Netty Dolls after my older sister.
Next step is to design some clothes for them.
Can't chat for very long as I'm still busy with my paintings...and you can just see one of them under the dolls...more to come soon!!

New Stuff

Creativity is a funny thing...working in the studio everyday surrounded by all your tools of the trade, sewing machine, paints, fabrics, dolls, it's not surprising when one art form inspires another. The new series of embroidered brooches resemble the characters in my paintings and illustrations. Machine embroidered with a 1960's singer ..a machine not really made for machine embroidery..but by using the backwards and forwards lever and gentle foot control...I've managed to push the poor machine into submission!

The brooches are pinned to a cute little card I designed and had professionally printed, the card doubles as a business card.
While designing my brooch cards my business cards also go a make over. Not that there was anything wrong with the old one..but thinking about marketing oneself it's good to have an iconic image that spans across the work that you do..from blogs to business cards and all that social networking stuff in between,
