So long Miss Kitty

For the a few months now we knew that Fat Kitty's days where numbered. Poor little girl had developed a brain tumor and because of her age we thought it best not to operate and just to make her as comfortable and give her the best we could provide. The day before yesterday she didn't get out of bed no matter how much I coxed her she just wanted to curl up and sleep. Yesterday there was no sign of improvement although she did drink some water and ate a little food, (which is so unlike her as her appetite was always ravenous!) I brought her out into the sun and gave her a brush, she purred happily. But we decided not to prolong her discomfort as the tumor was quite large and even though she is a tough little bugger, we knew it was only going to get worse and I didn't want to let her go through what my last cat went through.
So we very sadly let her go.
Fat Kitty will be missed by many of the children that live on our street. These three girls used to ride by on their bikes stop outside our drive and if Miss Kitty wasn't already there waiting for them they would call for her and she would come running down to greet them. She was a very chatty kitty not only with children but with all our guest that came over for dinner, she had to be the center of attention and we often put a chair out for her so she could sit and talk with everyone. The life of the party was Fat Kitty.
Fat Kitty loved the sun, we have her now in a little spot in our garden, I'll hope to find a plant for her in a couple of days.

Ahh, Grace......how sad for you!
I'm dreading the day when I have to make the same decision about my 21 year old cat. She's OK at the moment - blind in one eye, doesn't hear too well and is a bit stiff in the hips. But she seems pretty happy and eats well. Don't know if she'll make it through another winter, though.
Lovely pics of your Fat Kitty.

Hi Grace,

I feel so for you. Something as small as a cat. And the hole it leaves in you life when it is gone is so enormous.

I'm glad you had the guts to have it over with for her sake.

I'm sending you great big hugs and comforting thoughts.

Hugs, Euphoria

Awww - Fat Kitty - I of all people know about cats - and it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all - I know she filled your heart with sweet innocent memories as they all will. It was much better to remember her purring in the sunshine than to have to see her at her worst Grace...kitty heaven has a beautiful new habitant...

Extra Hugs for you today...

Jess

Thank you everyone for your kind words and hugs!!
When i looked through the photo's from last year I could see a huge change in her face and body I didn't really notice that so much before.
Jess as for Kitty heaven I think she would be more comfortable in human heaven or dog heaven as she associated more with them than other cats!!

Dearest Grace...I think it is one of the hardest things to do, letting go when all you want to do is hold on one more minute. Although she did not give you one more day, I sense what Miss Kitty left you with is a lifetime of memories that you can hold onto forever...
A pet owner too...blessings madame samm

I am so sorry for your loss! My kitty Makina looked just like yours and we had to have her put down as she was old and became very ill. I miss her so much.
