The Four Seasons

Introducing four new paintings they are heading to Dragonfly gallery in Hurstbridge early next week. I'm so happy with these four especially autumn, which is my favorite month.
Woodland Girl and Bunny, SOLD
Also on my plate today is another little painting soon to be listed in my Little Black Crow etsy shop, called woodland Girl. The colours are very reminiscent of vintage children's book illustrations.
Plus there is a very big painting underway for an exhibition in June.

And finally...well not really there are so many other things going on in the studio that if I was to show you you would be totally discombobulated! Another little painting in progress, titled In My Garden.
Off to play in my discombobulated world!

Stage 4

Magpies are added...I feel it's close to being finished but there are a few things lacking in the background. I don't want to rush this so I'm going to leave it for a day or two and work on some other paintings. I'll just think about it from time to time.

New paintings, Australian landscapes

The Big Gray, mixed media, not for sale

Bird Spotting. mixed media, not for sale

Inspired by my stay at Dunmoochin. Some of you may know my love of nature photography and my other blog, Little Clicking Crow, where I posted many photo's of the birds, fungus and toadstools that thrived around Dunmoochin. Every morning the Striated Pardalotes, Choughs, White- backed Magpies, Bell Miners, Spotted Pardalotes, Fairy Wrens, Kookaburra's, Thrush, Tree Crawlers, Fan Tails and Red Breasted Robins flew around my front door. Toadstool spotting became a obsessive addiction and everyday held new surprises! Eucalyptus polyanthemos, grew everywhere and provided the blue green palette for the background.
Painting is not for sale.

Back home and busy!!

How long has it been, I don't know...but boy there has been some changes. Wow look at all of you following my blog, 206 people!!! I better get back into the flow of things or you all might get bored! I had a great time whilst away full of renewed energy, inspiration and new friends!
The last three weeks was spent in Sydney with my sister, Annette and her husband, Ian,....(my sister has a little blog, its early days but worth a little peek!). I was there for her sons wedding, Bill and his lovely partner Karren. I knitted Karren's garter that she wore on the day.

It was a hoot, loud V8 falcons, great food, music and terrific people. Annette and I had a wonderful time together doing lots of girly things..like SHOPPING, love it. We were treated to some awesome food by Ian who is a top cook, his curries and Moroccan style dishes are rich with flavor, smells, colour and textures, yum, yum! Needless to say I was a lapsed vegetarian during this stay....Tofu for 2 months was good but I was craving for a something with blood in its veins! Back to my vegetarian ways now:)
And it is good to be back with my partner, PIG and our kitty Ned and Big Bunny..although Big Bunny was in a bit of a bad way he nearly lost his eye probably through Ned and him play fighting:( but Pig's been looking after him with eye drops and antibiotics and Big Bunny looks like he is well on his way back to his old grumpy self.
And if I was spoiled by Annette and Ian I've been tripled spoiled by Pig, presents , gourmet vegetarian cooking, wine and cocktails, I don't want to ever wake up!!
But as the days roll by I have to remind myself there is lots of paintings to complete, competitions to enter, markets to sign up to and doll orders to fulfill.
I've already had three of my little paintings sold at a group exhibition called, 'Rainy Days'. If you are in Hobart near Salamanca go and check it out the gallery is called Cube (art + design). Lots of wonderful art there and all painted on the same 10 x 10 cm wooden blocks.

cheers for now and I'll drop in for visits to your blogs soon!

two more paintings!

My brother can fly!
Currently not for sale

Two friends have a teaparty
Currently not for sale

These two are painted on a beautiful unprimed canvas board. Using canvas board has opened up a few more possibilities size for one thing and weight. I like using wood but it gets heavy to lug around and finding someone to cut it up isn't always easy.
I'm still at Dunmoochin and you can see more photo's of my surroundings here!

caught up in mixed media

He Marches To The Sound Of His Own Drum

There is NO WAY that anybody will be seeing photos of my studio for the next few months/years!!
I'm just so hooked on making these little mixed media paintings that nothing and I mean nothing gets chucked out without me at least pondering ways to use it in some way. I have always been bad at throwing things away. feathers, stamps, bits of paper, dried up insects, rusty nails and bottle tops, bottles, bits of string, old cardboard, broken crockery, dried leaves, shells, drift wood, scraps of fabric....have I left anything out??? Well now I have a use for them, well maybe not the dried insects, they are too special!
So now not only do I knit, paint, sew, make dolls, sketch, lino print in my studio I now have to find room for my mixed media work! BF has promised me to make some shelves...I told him I neeeeed lots of shelves, but I think he knew that already.
So this little guy is nearly finished, sometimes it helps to look at your images on the computer so you can see how it's going.
I can see his ear needs a bit of work, his shoes could stand out a bit more....don't know whether I should put text in there or not???.....Some areas could still be lighter....maybe hammer a few rivets and melt a bit of wax. What do you think?
