model sheet, dance and expressions

this little character i designed a few years ago for a animation tutorial I was doing on my own. Designing a character, posing her and seeing what expressions I could get out of her face and then making her animate. I based the dance steps on Preston Blair's alligator in Fantasia. I did get to put it onto a video but its so corrupted and glitchy that I may one day when I get time trace her and scan in for a pencil test.

I can see now some deffinate odd posses in the top drawings. And yes the girl at the bottom is wearing Doc martins to dance in!

concept art

Some more character and background designs from the vault.
I had great fun with these designs.
Even now I'd love to do another couple of passes on them and maybe a few little test animations...dam it I think I'll take time out to day to do another few versions of the nasty little girl character.

cartoon designs

cleaned up and painted in adobe Flash

As the days draw nearer to me starting back at work I'm getting my head back into cartoon land.
The last few days I've been trying to track down some of my sketches on Cd's which is a huge task as someone named them rather obscurely!! :(
I know there are colour versions of these filed somewhere...I'll pot them up as I find them!
Serves me right for being creative rather than logical!
Any way I found these guys, very cute lady bugs that I did the concept art for a children's show.
And more often than not all this hard work gets shelved and the projects are no longer discussed and its time to move onto the next project!
You get used to it...but what happens to all these characters you drew! They are still copyrighted to the company but for how long. I know some projects can rear their head again even after 10 years of more.
